Varisty Cardinals Lose Opening CBJ Cup Game; District Game Set for February 22
2/10/2025

Last Week's Results:

The Varsity Cardinals lost their opening game of the CBJ on Thursday night at Ice Works, suffering a 5-2 defeat against the Olentangy Braves. A tied game 2-2 in the third, the contest broke open thanks to a Braves power play goal and two empty netters. Congrats to Jack Goodwin for scoring his first varsity goal and to Tommy Scharfenberger for starting the scoring with a power play goal in the first.

Kudos to Olentangy Liberty for winning this year's CBJ Cup by coming from behind against Upper Arlington on Saturday afternoon before turning around and knocking off New Albany in the final.

Varsity now has two weeks of practices to prepare for a likely rematch against the same Olentangy Braves when district play starts for the Cards on Saturday, February 22 at 4pm at the Ice Haus.

The JVA team took the opportunity to rack up goals against their Olentangy Braves counterpart in a lopsided 12-3 contest with lots of players chipping in to the overall team points total. With their victory, the Cardinals are back-to-back Capital Hockey Conference JV Red Division regular season Champions! Great job boys!

The JV CBJ Cup begins for both JVA and JVB this week as both teams faceoff against one another in the first round matchup on Friday at 5:30pm at Ice Works.

JVB didn't have a game last week and they too will be looking forward to taking on JVA in the same matchup this coming Friday.

Good luck to both teams – Go Cards!
