The season has reached its conclusion for both the St. Charles White and St. Charles Red hockey teams. The Varsity team will start their playoffs this weekend on Saturday at the Ice Haus against the Olentangy Braves at 11:30am.
SC White finished a very difficult pool play bracket and semi-final weekend with a record of 2-2 – dropping a heartbreaker to St. Ignatius 3-2 to close out their season. That puts the finishing touch on a stellar 24-5-2 record on the season!
SC Red also had a tough draw and after a win in their tournament opening game, they dropped the next two to fall short of the semi-finals. Their year ends with a very respectable and hard fought final mark of 18-11-1.

SC White:
SC White traveled up to Gilmour to take on Toledo St. Francis and dropped the first game 4-2 on Friday. Mykolas Jackson started the scoring, but the Knights answered back with four unanswered goals before Evan Gough brought the Cards within two.
Saturday found the Cards with their backs against the wall as they notched a 1-0 win over St. Ignatius! Evan Gough netted the lone goal in the third as the defense and goalie Leander Shearer kept the shutout intact. Another win later that same day (4-1) against St. Edward put the Cards into the semi-finals and a rematch with St. Ignatius the next morning. Ewan Singleton, Aidan Reel, Kellen Finegan and Evan Gough all scored for the Cards.
Unfortunately, a 2-0 lead early in the third in the semi-final evaporated after too many penalties took their toll and the Cards gave up the go ahead goal with 1:16 left to play. Ewan Singleton started the scoring again followed by a goal by Fritz Oberhammer, but that's all the Cards could muster after his goal with 11:22 left in the third. Prayers go out to Evan Saad for a serious leg injury sustained during the game that led to a successful surgery once he returned home.

SC Red:
SC Red took on Shaker Heights on Friday afternoon and took care of business with a strong 7-3 victory. This marks the first win for SC Red in the state JV tournament in only its third year of existence as part of the St. Charles hockey program!
Saturday morning's game reversed course as Findlay knocked the Cards off by the final score of 6-1. A tightly contest 1-0 deficit until late in the second period, the Cards ran out of steam after trying valiantly to knot things up.
In the later game, Northview held the Cardinals in check in what ended up being a season ending 5-2 defeat. After being down 2-1 to start the third period, Northview slowly pulled away after that to end a very successful third year for the Red team.
